snow, trees, Santa, and some really big news

It's Christmas time in the city!!!

It is a very cold, snowy night on the Plains.  Although we haven't had the huge snows that came north of here, we are definitely getting a taste of real winter now.  On Saturday night, the snow was blowing so hard the tornado sirens went off in our town.  We were shovelling snow on Sunday and Asher smiled and said "this is my favorite weather!!"   He is mostly excited about sledding.

It has been an eventful few weeks since we last blogged. First, we have had a lot of Christmas stuff going on:
Waukee winterfest in the town square....umm...triangle.
on the horse-drawn wagon ride through charming downtown Waukee

looking for a Christmas tree at the tree farm
We found one!
and Asher helped decorate it
talking to Santa at Bass Pro Shops!
Of course, all of this pales in comparison to OUR REALLY BIG NEWS!!!!
We are going to be having another baby!
Sarah is due on June 24th.  She finally had her first midwife appointment and ultrasound the other day, and the baby is coming along well.  We are very excited, but kind of nervous about being outnumbered by kids.  Eva is unaware that she will be a big sister already, but...well....she loves babies.  (on the other hand, she also loves attention).  Asher so far seems to be very ambivalent about it.  He is a great big brother for Eva, and I'm sure he will be for this one, too.  He has put in a request for a baby brother.  This baby will be born right around the same time as its twin cousins on the East Coast.

Congratulations!!!

When I told the kids that they have a new cousin on the way, Noah said, " wow, three kids. They're brave." says the oldest of three....
We are so happy for you!!!
