First Week at Home

The last several days, since Eva was born, have really been a blur.  Everything is going well, though.  She is healthy and (mostly) happy.  Eva came home from the hospital last Friday.  She got to meet her brother for the first time:

Asher is adjusting well to being a big brother.  He is definitely trying to get as much attention as he can get.  Thankfully, that has mostly just meant showing off, rather than acting out .

After meeting Eva, I took Asher to our town's Christmas celebration, which was held at the town triangle (like a town square, only much smaller).  We rode a horse-drawn carriage and watched an ice sculptor.  We also waited in line for Santa, but it was a bitter-cold, 6 degree night.  We decided Santa could wait for a couple days.

On Saturday, my mom and her husband John arrived from Salt Lake City.  They were excited to see Eva, and we had a great visit.

On Monday, Asher finally got to see Santa, this time indoors at the warm mall.

Mom and John were with us for two extra days, because we were hit by the big Midwestern blizzard.  On Tuesday, it snowed 15 inches at our house, and on Wednesday, 55 mile an hour winds and subzero temps caused a whiteout blizzard, and blew the snow into huge drifts.  We were totally snowed in on Wednesday.   It was definitely the biggest storm we have seen since moving here.  3 days after the snow stopped falling, I am still shovelling snow, and the roads are not yet back to normal.

Here is a picture of my smoker, next to the armpit high drift that is still dominating our back deck.

Eva is already growing and changing.  We plan on taking a picture of her every week, on the same blanket (made by her Grandma in Pennsylvania).  Here is Eva the other day, at exactly one week old:
