Sunny in October

It was been a warm, beautiful October so far in Iowa. Today was the first rainy day in weeks, and it is still unusually nice outside for this time of year.  We'll enjoy it while it lasts. Soon enough, the cold weather will be here.

For the past few weeks, we have been focused on work, and on finishing our flooring project.  We have lots of trim, three steps, and a tile entryway left to finish, but the floors are looking pretty good.   They are much better than carpet for us, with two dogs and two kids.

The kids are both growing up so fast and constantly surprising us.  Eva is all over the house, crawling fast and pulling herself up on anything that looks like it might hold her.  She yells and laughs all the time.  She is a character!

Last weekend, we took a nice walk through downtown Des Moines, on a day that felt like summer.  We stopped by the "Snow Show" on the Court Avenue bridge, where the city lines up its snowplows and other snow equipment to show it off.  Every fall, school kids paint the snowplow blades, and people can vote on them.  It is funny to see the brightly-colored plows going through the city during snowstorms.
Asher got some flack for wearing that shirt, since the Utes were playing Iowa State later in the day

On our walk, we also stopped by the World Food Festival in the East Village, but it was too crowded to wait in line with two hungry kids.  Thankfully, we found a good taco shop!
