Hi, everybody!!!
It is a beautiful, mild, Saturday night in the Midwest. It is supposed to stay warm here for the next few days, and the snow and ice is melting fast. We have had an eventful two weeks. Sarah was very sick last week, which was no good. The Wednesday before last, Sarah had an ultrasound. We were having a blizzard that day and the drive to the hospital in downtown Des Moines was hairy. We planned to drop the kids off at daycare on the way, but it was taking too long, so we kept them with us. It was a wild ultrasound with the whole family in the room. I was busy chasing Eva around the room , but did see that the baby is fine and healthy... and is a girl!!!!!

Eva, meanwhile, is very confident with her walking, and hardly ever stays still. Here she is in a rare moment of sitting quietly:
Last weekend, we took the kids to the zoo. Eva walked around a bit...
...and tried to kiss a frog
She loved all the colorful fish...
...and spending time with her hero, Asher! She loved the lions!!!
Asher likes the Japanese Macaques!
This last Wednesday was my birthday. Sarah got me my new favorite cake, tres leches, from a really cool bakery in Valley Junction. It had a little mishap in the box on the way home, but it was delicious.
Along with some awesome Chicago-style pizza and some great presents from family,we had a nice birthday celebration.
Today, Asher and I went ice-skating at the Brenton Skating Plaza downtown. It was a warm, sunny day, so the ice was a little slushy, but Asher loved it. He learned quickly and skating is on his long list of favorite activities now. Hopefully we get another chance to go before it gets warmer.
