Long Weekend

It's an extremely stormy Tuesday evening in Central Iowa.  We are in the middle of a big thunderstorm, and the TV isn't working.  This was the latest in the year Iowa has made it without a tornado, but they are touching down all over the state tonight.  The weather over the long weekend, though, was perfect.  We had a nice weekend, staying close by.  I got a ton of work done in the yard, and both Asher and Eva got new beds.  On Sunday, I judged a BBQ contest here in the DSM area, called "Smokin' in the Junction".  It was a blast, and the BBQ was great.  After the contest, we took the kids for a walk/bike ride along a trail, and got ice cream at a famous malt shop in the Beaverdale area of Des Moines.  Asher is already getting good on his bike.

On Monday, we went to Big Creek State Park for a picnic, a game of catch, and a little bit of fishing.  The weather was absolutely perfect.
