Asher turned six a couple weeks back. He had a fun birthday, and got some great presents. He wasn't even too upset when his little sister stuck her hands in his cake. Ash is learning how to read and write, and writes a journal entry every day at school. We got to see all of them from the school year so far, and it was fascinating to decipher them and see how things look through his eyes. He is learning a lot, and we have been impressed with his school and his teacher. Asher is very into Star Wars right now, and loves making up his own Star Wars stories, and even songs. He also loves football, especially the Hawkeyes. Asher says his favorite season is winter and his favorite weather is snow.
Eva is changing every day. She is talking more and more, and is not shy about expressing herself. She is also potty training, which has been very interesting. She calls herself "Bubba", and if you correct her, she calls herself "E-Bubba". She is strong, quick, and always on the move.

Elise has grown into a big, cuddly, smiley baby. She is very mellow and easy-going, except for when she is up in the middle of the night. She has started eating rice cereal and baby food, and she is a great eater.

Since we blogged last, October has turned into November. Halloween was huge for the kids, especially since it was the first time Eva got involved. In Central Iowa, all the trick-or-treating is done on "Beggar's Night", usually the night before Halloween. I think the idea is to make it a little safer and more wholesome. Asher went as Darth Vader (his favorite), and his friend Olivia went out with us, dressed as Princess Leia. Eva was a little confused at first, but caught on quickly. We went all over the neighborhood, and the candy haul was enormous.
